Everywhere we look there seems to be something catastrophic happening; powerful hurricanes, devastating earthquakes, missile launches, tsunamis, flooding and you name it. It is truly a trying time for many as they try to recover, and some might think that it is just a matter of time until they are affected or they pray that the danger stays at bay. Amidst all that is happening, the question is inevitable‘how can I prepare for such an event?’ And the answer lies not in emergency response, news bulletins, shelter locations or safety awareness.
The answer is and has always been God. There is no salvation but what God provides through Jesus Christ. Regardless of our differences in creed, color, religious beliefs or prejudices; when tragedy strikes, we are all simply human beings trying to survive. What can you do to prepare? And if you have done all you can to prepare, what then? Ephesians 6:13 says having done all, stand! Stand firm with faith in God, and whether you die or live, you know that he is there and has your best interest at heart and will take care of you. People may mock at believers who die, after boasting in God, but it is not always God’s will to keep a person alive. Sometimes their time has come to move on to the next assignment; which entails passing through the gate of death. Be prepared for any disaster by trusting God in all things. Then, no storm, earthquake or catastrophe will rattle you.
Help as many as you can without discrimination, and encourage them to trust in God as you do. And finally, fear not and be not dismayed, do not let bad news overwhelm you but always remember the good news that God will never leave nor forsake us; as you continue to trust him as your refuge and strength.
Good preparation is important.
